Vail is renowned for a lot of things: epic bowl skiing, endless terrain, world-class shopping and dining are among them. However, what often gets over looked is Vail’s laundry list of non-skiing activities, and Adventure Ridge is the beating heart of these experiences. Located at the top of the Eagle Bahn gondola, Adventure Ridge is a true winter playground for the young and young at heart. And, if you do check off every activity at Adventure Ridge (which would take you awhile), there’s plenty more unique experiences to be had in Vail Village and Lionshead. Just like Vail’s terrain, its activity list seems never-ending, so we comprised a list of top don’t-miss, non-skiing activities. - See more at: http://www.vaildestinations.com/blog/post/vail-so-much-more-than-bowl-skiing?sthash.PDh7N2oE.mjjo#sthash.PDh7N2oE.CWiy7KHm.dpuf

If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush you cannot miss Vail’s ski biking; a combination of bike frames, skis and headlamps, helmets are required for this on mountain activity. Grab your Go-Pros and gear up in your ski gear – starting just outside the Nature Discovery center a Vail instructor will navigate you carefully down Vail’s front side as you drift and skid on your ski bike around wintery corners. Most would assume the instructor would steer clear of the trees but fear not, you’ll be able to maneuver your ski bike rather flawlessly through the trees after only a few practice turns.

New Alpine Coaster at Adventure Ridge

Bundle up for this one, located up at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola there is a brand new alpine coaster. This (gravity-powered) amusement park ride sends you 3,400 feet down the mountain on a track wrapping with the curves of Vail Mountain.

Nature Discovery Center at Adventure Ridge

At the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola will also find Vail’s Nature Discovery Center – here you can rent snowshoes if you’re seeking some great exercise and looking to try something different. If going downhill on skis isn’t exactly your thing then spend an afternoon snowshoeing Vail’s amazing mountain top winter trails. The Nature Discovery center will provide you with ample information on where to snowshoe, what you will encounter along the way including wildlife and various bird species. The Nature Discovery center can be a great way to refresh sore skier legs in addition take a relaxing day off from the slopes while surrounded by Vail’s fantastic 10,000-foot Rocky Mountain views.
